The Gallatin National Forest is located in south Montana, and north/northwest of the famous Yellowstone National Park. The forest has an approximate area of 7,300 square kilometers, and is part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
The US-191 route from West Yellowstone to Bozeman in Montana cuts through part of the Gallatin National Forest which includes the Gallatin mountain range. The route offers about 63 miles of scenic views when traveling out from Yellowstone National Park to the northeast, and is also the road to Big Sky Ski Resort, the second largest ski resort in the United States.
