Abstract
In the title compound, [Cu(NO2)2(C5H8N2)]·2H2O, the Cu2+ ion exhibits site symmetry 2 and is hexacoordinated by four O atoms from two nitrite ions and two N atoms from two 2-ethyl-1H-imidazole molecules. A free water molecule assists in forming a three-dimensional network holding together the complexes via O—H⋯N, O—H⋯O and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
