The title compound, [Cu(C13H8N5O)Cl]n, has a chain structure parallel to with Cu2+ cations in a trigonal–bipyramidal coordination environment. The ligand adopts a tridentate tripyridyl coordination mode and a chloride ion acts as a bridge. The chains are linked via weak C—H⋯O and C—H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supramolecular network.
